The NC Peer Support Team helps to provide assistance to first responders in need. North Carolina Firefighter Peer Support is defined as assistance provided by a trained individual or group of trained firefighters and emergency responders who answer the call to their brothers and sisters in need, regardless of the need.

On Sunday, December 10, 2017, Quincy Harris of Cary Area EMS was named Squad Person of the Year for 2017. Harris is a seasoned paramedic and has been a member of Cary Area EMS since 2009. Mr. Harris is a role model and mentor for our organization as he serves in the roles of Field Training Officer and one of our fill-in supervisors. Individuals are nominated by the officer corp of Cary Area EMS and then members select the finalist based on criteria like contribution to the agency. We are proud of high achieving staff like Quincy Harris.
